As we all know, there is not a bigger champion of the Young Eagle program than Joe Gmitter. Joe’s hard work and dedication was realized at the Young Eagle’s Banquet during AirVenture. Chapter 237 was one of the three EAA chapters in the country to receive a ConocoPhillips sponsored Young Eagles Rally in 2010 (scheduled for Sept. 18th at KANE).
200 gallons of fuel will be supplied with a cost of $0.66 per pilot for the entire day. CononcoPhillips will supply goodie bags, refreshments, T-Shirts and banners, and also Jeff Skiles (the co-pilot, with Capt. “Sully”, of the airliner that landed in the Hudson River after the engines ingested some birds) will be in attendance for the rally.
This is a big deal and it is up to all of us to make this Rally a big success. Unfortunately, due to his medical situation, Joe might not be able to fly that day. So, it will mean a lot to Joe, and of course the kids, if all of you with aircraft could help out and of course those of us without, fill-in the ground crew duties.
Thanks and congrats Joe!
