Patti Sandusky (Chapter Chair) and Thuy “Twee” Pieper (flying out of ANE) from the Minnesota Chapter of The Ninety-Nines will be our guest speakers at the Chapter 237 meeting on February 27th. This presentation will be open to any/all women interested in aviation and will be a very informative and fun event.

The Ninety-Nines, Inc., is the first and only international organization of licensed women pilots. From 35 countries, they currently have over 5,500 members throughout the world. Virtually all women of achievement in aviation have been or are members of The Ninety-Nines. Ninety-Nines are comprised of women who fly purely for fun, fly professionally for airlines, corporations, flight schools, and government agencies, or fly their own airplanes for their own businesses. First and foremost, they are all women pilots who love to fly!

Spread the word!

Tour Stop at Anoka County Airport.

On July 22 through July 24 the EAA’s B-17, Aluminum Overcast, will be at Anoka County Airport in Blaine, MN. The Tour Stop and flyin is open to the public and all pilots flying in. The location is Key Air on the north side of the Airport. Access is from Radisson Road NE, (County Road 52) for those driving in. Come out and see this magnificent WWII bomber. It is one of only 14 still flying out of the over 12,000 built during WWII. Ground tours are available from $5 for individuals to $15 for families. Ground Tours are open from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.

You may book a flight on the Aluminum Overcast to take place during this Tour Stop. Mission times are 10:15am until 1:15pm. For information or to make reservations go to https://secure.eaa.org/B17/securejoin_B17.html or e-mail to b17reservations@eaa.org. You may also call them at 1.800.359.6217. Click on the image at the top of the page to go to the EAA’s B-17 site for more information.

PIC flying in will get free breakfast. Key Air is having a BBQ Saturday afternoon.

This will be the last Tour Stop before Airventure. The Aluminum Overcast will depart from ANE on Sunday, July 24 to return to Appleton, WI. On Sunday it is planned, and with the participation of the warbird pilots, that there will be an escort flight from ANE to Oshkosh. The flight will land at Oshkosh but the B-17 will continue to Appleton.

Warbird Pilots

There will be substantial fuel discounts for those warbird pilots that stop at ANE during the Tour Stop. We have also made special arrangements for discounted hotel rooms and rental cars.
